Dear Parents,
We hope everyone has had the opportunity to recharge during the fall break. We look forward to returning to campus on Monday but wanted to share the following with you:
Covid
The school has been notified of several positive cases over the break. In some cases, the school was asked to provide information for contact tracing and a selected number of students were asked by the Gesundheitsamt (health authorities) to quarantine. For other positive cases, families notified us but no contact tracing was needed due to the timing and fall break.
As we return to school this week, both the ES and HS students will test three times this week. We ask that everyone is vigilant about keeping to the hygiene rules, maintaining distance and wearing masks correctly, when appropriate. Your continued support is appreciated.
Bus Lane
A big change happened during the break in front of our school. One lane of Teltower Damm (going north) which has always been used for parking has now been turned into a bus lane from 5:00am until 8:00pm. We are asking parents to follow all traffic rules. Especially during the first week as we are all getting used to this new situation.
We encourage JFKS families to bike or walk instead of taking the car. If that is not possible, please arrive early and consider dropping your child off a block or two away from the school to relieve traffic congestion.
The Traffic Committee has created the below communication for the Walking School Bus. The Parents Council has also created a map (link here) of suggested alternative routes. They will be sending specific communication to families. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.

Liebe Eltern,
wir hoffen, dass Sie alle die Gelegenheit hatten, sich in den Herbstferien zu erholen. Wir freuen uns darauf, am Montag auf den Campus zurückzukehren, möchten Ihnen jedoch Folgendes mitteilen:
Covid
Die Schule wurde über mehrere positive Fälle während der Herbstferien informiert. In einigen Fällen wurde die Schule gebeten, Informationen zur Ermittlung von Kontaktpersonen zur Verfügung zu stellen, und eine ausgewählte Anzahl von Schülern wurde vom Gesundheitsamt zur Quarantäne aufgefordert. Bei anderen positiven Fällen wurden wir von den Familien benachrichtigt, aber aufgrund des Zeitpunkts und der Herbstferien war keine Ermittlung von Kontaktpersonen innerhalb der Schule erforderlich.
Mit dem Schulbeginn in dieser Woche werden sich alle Schüler_innen der ES und HS dreimal testen. Wir bitten alle, sich an die Hygieneregeln zu halten, Abstand zu halten und Masken zu tragen, wenn es angebracht ist. Wir wissen Ihre anhaltende Unterstützung zu schätzen.
Busspur
In den Herbstferien gab es eine große Veränderung vor unserer Schule. Eine Fahrspur des Teltower Dammes (Richtung Norden), die bisher zum Parken genutzt wurde, ist nun von 5:00 bis 20:00 Uhr als Busspur eingerichtet. Wir bitten die Eltern, sich an die Verkehrsregeln zu halten. Vor allem in der ersten Woche, da wir uns alle an diese neue Situation gewöhnen müssen.
Wir ermutigen JFKS-Familien, mit dem Fahrrad oder zu Fuß zu kommen, anstatt das Auto zu nehmen. Wenn das nicht möglich ist, kommen Sie bitte früh und überlegen Sie, ob Sie Ihr Kind nicht einen oder zwei Blocks von der Schule entfernt absetzen, um die Verkehrssituation zu entlasten.
Der Verkehrsausschuss hat die unten stehende Mitteilung für den “Laufenden Schulbus” erstellt. Der Parent Council hat ebenfalls eine Karte (Link hier) erstellt, die Alternativrouten vorschlägt, und wird diese mit weiteren Mitteilungen an alle Familien senden. Bitte wenden Sie sich bei Fragen direkt an den Parent Council.
