HS: Returning to school after Easter break

Dear JFKS Families,

We hope that you are having a healthy & relaxing Spring Break.  As you may have heard, the Berlin Senat met yesterday, April 8th, to discuss school restarting after Spring Break.  As a result, we wanted to clarify what school will look like for our High School students starting April 12th.
  • Our 11th and 12th grade students will continue to attend school as they have prior to Spring Break.  12a will return for two days, April 12-13, and then they will not have any more face-to-face instruction prior to their Abitur Exams, except the mandatory consultations in their written exam subjects.  12a will not have Sport classes on April 12-13, except for those that need additional time for their Abitur exam.  Sport classes for 11ad and 12d will restart on Monday, April 19th.
  • Our 10th grade students will return only at half class size on April 12th.  As we stated prior to Spring Break, 10th grade is split into two sections, A & B.  We will welcome section A back on Monday, April 12th and group B will continue with online assignments via Google Classroom.  On April 19th, group B will be welcomed back to school, while group A will continue with online assignments via Google Classroom.  This alternating schedule will continue until further notice.  Due to hygiene regulations and organization of several learning groups, it is NOT possible to switch the A/B groups.
  • For all students coming to school on April 12th, we ask that all students perform a self-test in the morning prior to coming to school.  If the student has not picked up their self-test, we ask them to come to school at 9:30a and pick them up in W125 and self-test later in the day or the next morning.
  • 7th-9th grades will continue with online instruction & assignments via Google Classroom April 12th-16th.  We will welcome these grades back starting April 19th – with more information to come regarding their schedule next week.  Most likely, their schedule will resemble the 10th grade schedule of alternating groups.
Finally, we want to thank you for all of your understanding and support as we continue to navigate through these unprecedented times.

Best,

JFKS HS Admin
