Six of our high school students (3 girls, 3 boys) started in the third step of the 53rd Math Olympics Berlin.
Two of them won prizes:
Leopold A. in grade 7 won a third prize and
Ann-Marie M. in grade 8 won a second prize.

Dear John F. Kennedy Parents and Community,

As I write this letter words cannot describe the beauty of the scenery that surrounds us. The sun beams over steep snow peaked mountains and the valley is gently blanketed by the warm sun. The students have made tremendous advancements, so much so, that everyone has learned to use the ski lifts as of the third day. They are engaged and proud of their improvements, as told by their smiles, proof of hard work and enjoyment. The character and excitement displayed by this group is astounding and should reassure our community of the importance of the 8^th grade class trip. We strive to build the character of these young minds, improve their physical skills and instill confidence and passion in their endeavors. This trips proves the legacy and importance of knowing these students as people and providing them with experiences that enrich their lives and enhances class spirit.

Gymnastics Competition of Berlin Schools 2014

Feb. 26, 2014 – Twenty-five JFKS elementary students participated in the „Turnwettkampf der Berliner Schulen 2014“ at the Sporthalle Schöneberg. With great results – one of the younger teams won silver, and one of our youngest gymnasts achieved the highest overall score (tieing with a girl from another school) among all third graders and younger.

It was a very exciting morning for all of them with close to 300 elementary school children from over 30 Berlin schools competing in the event. All boys and girls performed a compulsory routine on five events – horizontal bar, vault, balance beam, parallel bars, and floor. Additionally, each team showed a synchronized floor exercise.

Congratulations to all JFKS gymnasts – beginners to advanced – on the following results:

In the category „grades 1-3“ the JFK Girl Teams I+II finished

• 2^nd place – Sarah H., Helena K., Sina M., Charlotte P.,  Emma P.
• 15^th place – June B., Stella B., Chloé H., Sophia P.,  Emma S.

(out of a total of 16 teams).

In the category „grades 4-6“ the JFK Girl Teams I+II finished

• 6^th place – Sofie G., Valentina H., Helen S., Lara S., Nina S.
• 19^th place – Hannah C., Emily H., Hannah R., Ylvi S. , Amelie V.

(out of a total of 32 (!) teams).

In the category „grades 4-6“ the mixed JFK Boy Team finished

• 5^th place – Ella D., Daniel O.,  Finley R., Jonah R., Konstantin T.

(out of 9 teams).

Our 8th graders are on ski trip in Austria from 10 through 21 March 2014.
Buses arrived at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening.

We are looking forward to our first full day of skiing tomorrow.  More updates to follow.
