Bundesweiter Warntag – Nationwide Alert Day (08.12.)

Der nächste bundesweite Warntag findet am 8. Dezember 2022 statt. An diesem Aktionstag erproben Bund und Länder sowie die teilnehmenden Kreise, kreisfreien Städte und Gemeinden in einer gemeinsamen Übung ihre Warnmittel.

Ab 11:00 Uhr aktivieren die beteiligten Behörden und Einsatzkräfte unterschiedliche Warnmittel wie z. B. Radio und Fernsehen, digitale Stadtanzeigetafeln oder Warn-Apps. Beim Warntag wird zudem Cell Broadcast zum ersten Mal getestet. Cell Broadcast ist eine Warnnachricht, die direkt aufs Handy geschickt wird. Mit keinem anderen Warnmittel können wir mehr Menschen erreichen. Hier finden Sie dazu mehr Informationen.

Auf diese Weise werden die technischen Abläufe im Fall einer Warnung und auch die Warnmittel selber auf ihre Funktion und auf mögliche Schwachstellen hin überprüft. Im Nachgang werden von den Verantwortlichen gegebenenfalls Verbesserungen vorgenommen und so das System der Bevölkerungswarnung sicherer gemacht.

Der bundesweite Warntag dient weiterhin dem Ziel, die Menschen in Deutschland über die Warnung der Bevölkerung zu informieren und sie damit für Warnungen zu sensibilisieren.

The Nationwide Alert Day will be held on 8 December 2022. On this action day, the Federation and the Federal States as well as the participating rural districts, urban districts and municipalities will test their warning devices in a joint exercise.

At 11.00 a.m., the participating authorities and operational forces will simultaneously trigger their different warning devices, e.g. radio and television, digital display boards or warning apps. Cell Broadcast will also be tested for the first time at the warning day. Cell Broadcast is a warning message sent directly to cell phones. No other means of warning can reach more people. More details can be found here (German only).

In doing this, the technical procedures employed in case of an alert and the warning devices themselves will be checked for proper functioning and possible weak points. Subsequently the responsible authorities will make improvements as required, thus rendering the population warning system safer.

In addition, the Nationwide Alert Day will serve the aim of informing the people in Germany about the warning of the population, thus raising the awareness of this issue.

dies ist nur eine Erinnerung an den Beitrag vom 26. November. Es gibt keine weiteren Entwicklungen, aber wir möchten Sie bitten, mit Ihren Kindern zu sprechen, falls Sie dies noch nicht getan haben.

Dear Parents, 

As you may have read in the news, there have been at least four recent reported incidents of children being approached by a stranger in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf area. Police are continuing to investigate but have no leads at this point.

Please note that none of the incidents reported have happened near JFKS, nor have they involved anyone in our community. However, our local police have requested that we remind parents to talk to their children about being vigilant and what to do should a stranger approach them. We are sharing this document (German only) provided by them. 

Please remind your children that should they see anything suspicious, they should report it to a teacher or administrator as soon as it happens. Again, none of these incidents have involved any JFK students or families. It is important for our children and our community that we handle this information calmly and reasonably.

wie Sie vielleicht in den Nachrichten gelesen haben, gab es in den letzten Wochen mindestens vier Fälle, in denen Kinder im Bezirk Steglitz-Zehlendorf von einem Fremden angesprochen wurden. Die Polizei ermittelt, hat aber noch keine konkreten Hinweise.

Bitte beachten Sie, dass sich keiner der gemeldeten Vorfälle in der Nähe der JFKS ereignet hat und auch niemand aus der JFKS Community betroffen war. Die zuständige Polizei hat uns jedoch gebeten, die Eltern daran zu erinnern, mit ihren Kindern darüber zu sprechen, wachsam zu sein und was zu tun ist, wenn sich ein Fremder ihnen nähert. Wir bitten Sie, dieses von der Polizei erstellte Dokument zu lesen.

Bitte reden Sie mit Ihren Kindern, dass sie, wenn sie etwas Verdächtiges sehen, dies sofort einer Lehrkraft oder der Schulleitung melden sollten. Keiner dieser bisher bekannten Vorfälle betraf JFK-Schüler oder Familien. Es ist wichtig für unsere Kinder und unsere Gemeinschaft, dass wir mit diesen Informationen ruhig und vernünftig umgehen. 

Wir freuen uns darauf, Sie alle am Montag, den 28. November, wiederzusehen.

ES Food Drive Follow Up & Help Wanted

Thank you for all of your support! 
 
The ES collected a vast amount of non-perishable food items and had fun competing for most creative words created with the donations. 
 
6th grade created the words with the most ‚z‘ and ‚q‘ and earned the movie afternoon. 3rd and 5th were a close 2nd but what really matters is all the food we collected! ES Student Council really appreciates all the contributions from different classes, especially EC-2nd grade.
 

At this time, the Cub Scouts group is looking for volunteers to help distribute the food.

 
The information from the Scouts contact is below: 
 
The Cub Scouts made 173 grocery bags of food. It was quite a lot! 
If anyone from JFKS would like to participate in passing out the grocery bags, they are requested to come to American Church Berlin, Dennewitzplatz, around 3:30 pm. Both this Friday, the 9th and probably the 16th too. Until they’ve all been handed out. 

Please send an email to Ms. Williams () if you can help so she can forward it to the Scouts. Thank you.

Lese-Adventskalendar & Buchtipp von Emmeline!

Wir laden Euch ein, täglich ein Türchen im Lese-Adventskalendar ein Türchen aufzumachen. In diesem Adventskalender finden Grundschüler, Lehrer, Erzieher und Eltern jeden Tag einen Buchtipp von SchülerInnen oder SchulbibliothekarInnen.
 
Auf lesefoerdern.de gibt es die täglichen Lesetipps unter dem Menüpunkt Adventskalender 2022.
 
Das erste Türchen hat sogar eine unserer Schülerinnen der Oberschule gestaltet: https://lesefoerdern.de/das-erste-tuerchen/ 
Das Buch dazu können sich Interessierte in der ES Library anschauen und ausleihen.
