JFKS Honors Heroes on Veterans Day 2025

On Tuesday, November 11, the John F. Kennedy School had the great honor of hosting five World War II U.S. Veterans for a very special Veterans Day celebration. The youngest of the visiting heroes was 99 years old, while the oldest proudly reached 103!

Students from Grades 5 and 6, along with esteemed guests from both Germany and the United States, gathered to pay tribute to these remarkable individuals. The opening and welcoming speeches highlighted the close ties between our two nations and reflected on the shared history that connects JFKS to both American and German traditions.

The USA Girl Scouts Overseas escorted the Veterans into the aula to a roaring welcome, followed by the posting of the colors by Scout Troop 46—a moving moment that set the tone for the rest of the event.

Nearly 400 people filled the auditorium to greet our distinguished guests and hear their powerful stories. The Veterans spoke about courage, sacrifice, and the importance of peace—lessons that deeply resonated with everyone present. The audience was truly inspired and amazed by their words and spirit.

It was a day of remembrance, gratitude, and unity—one that the JFKS community will not soon forget.
