After-School-Care (eFöB) at the JFKS
Welcome to the John F. Kennedy Friendship Center e.V.
The John F. Kennedy Friendship Center e.V. (FC) is a nonprofit German-American organization founded in 1983 by parents and teachers of the JFKS. As a dedicated bilingual and bicultural community center, the FC serves as the official cooperation partner for the eFöB at the John F. Kennedy School (JFKS).
Our educators work closely with the school to reach shared educational goals, ensuring a smooth transition for elementary students from classroom learning to After-School Care. By following the Berlin educational program for all-day schools and the school framework agreement, we create a well-rounded environment that promotes each child’s social and academic development.
Our program offers reliable care from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including mornings before school, afternoons, school holidays, and most days when school is not in session. Activities take place both inside the school and at our dedicated Hort building on the school’s campus at Teltower Damm 99-101.
We offer children a variety of experiences, including creative projects, free play, field trips, and overnight excursions, all designed to promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, through the Reliable Half Day Elementary School (VHG) framework, our bilingual educators directly support teachers and students in the classroom, further nurturing the overall development of the JFKS community.

To apply for admission to the eFöB, parents must submit an application for a Supplementary Support and Care Voucher (Hort Gutschein) to their local district’s Youth Welfare Office. While care is currently free for students up to third grade, fees for children in grades four through six are determined by the Youth Welfare Office based on family income. The office also sets the specific hours of care a child qualifies for.
