High School Admission

The actual admissions process and requirements depend on the nationality of the student and parents of the student applying. Please check the respective group – German or American students for more details.

Please click here for the JFKS Admissions Regulations.

Please note our application periods and deadlines.

If you have submitted a complete application, you will receive email confirmation within ten to twelve weeks that your application has been processed. The actual admission process begins in April/May for Grades 7-12.

A student’s application is AUTOMATICALLY DELETED at the end of September of the school year originally applied for. It is not possible to roll-over your applications to the next year. A new application form and supporting documents must be submitted.

Please be advised that admission is contingent upon the applicant being registered as living within Berlin’s city limits at the time of admission (see para. I, 1 of the “Admissions Regulations”). For applicants moving to Berlin, proof of residency in Berlin must be submitted before the beginning of the school year.

JFKS may accept and process applications for grades EC-12 for children residing in Brandenburg if the applicant can submit evidence of the guest student (Gastschüler) status for JFKS specifically, and if free slots are available. Proof must be submitted by March 1 for applications to the Entrance Class and by March 31 for applications for grades 1-12 and may be no older than 6 months at the time of submission to JFKS.

Parents of children residing in the State of Brandenburg should initiate the process of obtaining the guest student status by contacting their relevant State School Authority (for example the Staatliche Schulamt Brandenburg a.d.H. for the cities of Potsdam and Brandenburg, and the Landkreise Potsdam Mittelmark and Teltow-Fläming). Please note that JFKS is not able to counsel or assist you in obtaining this status, and has no influence on the processing time of your application.

Please refer to the Guest Student Agreement (Gastschülerabkommen) between the Land Berlin and the Land Brandenburg (link here) for more information.
