“A Legacy: JFKS Music” – An Alumni Concert / Thursday, February 18 – 7.30pm, Large Aula

On Thursday, February 18th, 2016 the JFKS Alumni Association and the JFKS Music Department will proudly present “A Legacy: JFKS Music”, an alumni concert. The nostalgic, talent-packed musical celebration will take place in the Large Aula at 7:30 p.m. and last till 9 p.m.

There will be no entrance fee charged, but, of course, we are looking forward to some donations. All donations will go to the Dr. Alan Poland Music Scholarship.

Distinguished alumni from over the past 23 years, including nationally and internationally feted performers, professionals whose lives continue to include music, as well as emerging musicians just beginning their careers, will celebrate the musical legacy of Dr. Alan Poland and his contribution to the JFKS music program.

The line-up includes Elisabeth Alsen, Sonia Hellenbrand, Sarah Kaiser, Georg Kuehl, Michael Raj Kunsmann, Eike Lage, Sophie Moedig, Christopher O’Connor, Sonja Pitsker, Marcello Pojaghi, Marcel Ünal, Nadine Weissmann, Eve Wickert, and Garry Williams. The performing alumni will be joined by current students.

The diverse program will include classical song, instrumental music, Christian music, jazz, as well as original compositions by JFKS alumni.

There will be an opportunity to mix and mingle before the concert and during the intermission. Refreshments will be available from 6:30 p.m. onwards.

The alumnus Garry Williams, class of 1992, has organized this benefit concert to support the JFKS Alumni Association´s Dr. Alan Poland Memorial Scholarship 2016. “When Nadine Weissmann reached out to me last year, I told her I didn’t have any money to donate to the cause,” Williams says. “This is my way of making a contribution.”

It took Garry, now resident of Halifax, Canada, and artistic director of the DaPoPo Theatre, only a few weeks to inspire many former students, who are now professional musicians, to come together and perform in honor of the deceased Dr. Alan Poland. “Dr. Poland gave me, and so many other students, possibilities to grow as musicians, and as human beings”, says Williams. “This is my way of giving back.”
“It will be a chance to reacquaint with old friends,” says Williams, “or meet new members of the JFKS family.”

We hope that you can join us at this unique event.

Sincerely,

The JFKS Alumni e.V. Board and the JFKS Music Department
